

The Director of Underground Services is responsible for supervising, managing, and coordinating the efforts of the Project Managers, Field Employees, and sub-contractors on a day-to-day basis. The Director of Underground Services derives his or her authority and performs all duties with guidance from the COO.

Experience estimating underground utility projects.Experience managing multiple sub-contractors on multiple projects at once.Experience managing projects to completion.Experience managing divisional or departmental budgets.Experience growing a business division from the ground up. 10 years of relevant experience in HDD operations, underground fiber installation, trenching, plowing, gas line/utility installation, fiber pulling.Bachelor’s degree in Construction Technology, Engineering, or a related field of study (or equivalent work history).

Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products and Apple iPhone.Train, execute, and enforce the Scorecard development tool.Helps to maintain an organized job site, including the corporate office space.Ensures through field leaders that daily safety meetings and “Toolbox Talks” are conducted and that all company employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy.Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices and rectifies job site hazards immediately.Oversees all preparation, scheduling, and supervision of a final punch list.Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.Understands, manages, and enforces the project plans and specifications.Oversees underground construction schedule, identifies and solves problems.Review weekly reports to document weather and field conditions, manpower and equipment, progress and conditions impacting the project, as well as Accident Reports, Quality Reports, etc.Become familiar with Prime Contractors Subcontract document and understand process for reporting Change Orders and progress delays.

Directs Project Managers, Supervisors and Foremen to achieve completion of the projects on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications.Assists Project Managers and Supervisors in the supervision and responsibility of the total underground construction effort in accordance with design, budget, quality, and schedule.Prepare and present detailed construction cost estimates and documentation.Track and react to job specific productivity daily.Assist the estimating team on pricing all underground utility projects.Develop and prepare short-term and long-term development plans, forecasting initiatives, P&L statistics, and budgets based upon corporate goals and objectives.Leadership of production teams committed to increasing safety, quality, and profitability of work performed.Ideally, the candidate will have a vast network of industry contacts to call upon once onboard at Aptus.The Director of Underground Services coordinates all underground construction utility activities and supervises all field personnel within the company as required to successfully complete the projects on schedule and within budget.
